Privacy policy

DLSS Updater is a free Windows tool that keeps the DLSS and Streamline files in your games current. It runs on your PC and has no server of its own. The maintainer receives no data from the app: no account, no telemetry, no crash reports.

Who is responsible

DLSS Updater is made and published by Florian, who publishes as ApolloF, in the Netherlands. Contact: [email protected]. Because the app never sends your data to him, he doesn't hold or process it. If you email him, he is the controller of that email (see Your rights).

What it does on your PC

  • It reads the game folders of your launchers (Steam, Epic, GOG, EA, Ubisoft and Xbox) and any folder you add, to find games with DLSS files.
  • It replaces files in game folders and keeps the originals in a backup folder next to the game.
  • Per-game settings you choose are written to that game's NVIDIA driver profile on your PC.
  • If you use Seaglass, the two apps talk to each other on your PC only.

Network requests

  • GitHub: DLSS Updater asks the GitHub API which releases exist of the components it manages (NVIDIA's DLSS and Streamline repositories, OptiScaler, ReShade and the other add-ons it offers) and downloads the files you pick from GitHub.
  • reshade.me: ReShade is downloaded from its official site.
  • These requests send nothing about you or your games. GitHub and reshade.me see your IP address, as with any web request.
  • Optional GitHub token: you can enter a GitHub personal access token to raise GitHub's rate limit. It is sent only to the GitHub API. It is stored unencrypted in settings.json on your PC, so use a token without any extra permissions.

DLSS Updater doesn't check for its own updates; new versions are on its GitHub releases page.

What stays on your PC

Settings, the game list, downloaded components, a cache of GitHub's answers and the log stay in %LOCALAPPDATA%\DLSSUpdater. The log can contain game names and folder paths. It leaves your PC only if you send it to someone yourself.

Third parties DLSS Updater contacts

No selling, no sharing

Your data is never sold, rented, shared with advertisers or data brokers, or used for advertising. There are no ads, analytics or trackers in DLSS Updater.

How long data is kept

Everything DLSS Updater stores stays on your PC until you delete it. The maintainer keeps nothing, because he receives nothing.

Deleting your data

  • Use Restore DLSS or Uninstall in the app to put a game's original files back.
  • Uninstall DLSS Updater from Settings → Apps in Windows, then delete %LOCALAPPDATA%\DLSSUpdater.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask for access to, correction or deletion of personal data about you, restrict or object to its use, and get a copy of it. Since DLSS Updater sends nothing to the maintainer, the only personal data he may hold is an email you send him; it is used only to answer you and deleted when it is no longer needed. Write to [email protected]. You can also complain to the Dutch data protection authority, the Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens, or the authority where you live.

Children

DLSS Updater isn't directed at children under 16 and doesn't knowingly collect data from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date at the top.
